On the “proof of concept” stage, the project is funded by the Government of Canada through the Grand Challenges Canada – Stars in Global Health program – a grant competition to support vibrant ideas with significant impacts from scientists and innovators that address pressing societal health issues, particularly newborns, infants and pregnant women and mothers.More
~1% of children are born in Ukraine and worldwide with congenital heart defects. ~40% of them can die without timely diagnosis and treatment. Late detection makes the treatment more difficult and more expensive.
In many countries, the standard diagnostics methods (ultrasound) are not available for all children.
Our service offers doctors to record heart sounds using an electronic stethoscope and analyze sounds online using a developed by our team machine learning algorithm. Patients with heart sounds that are different from the norm will be proposed to undergo further examinations.
The algorithm is constantly improving and self-studying, basing on the screening data.
Starting from 2018, the project is being implemented in a pilot mode in several state and private maternity hospitals of Ukraine. You can see the list of institutions participating in the program in the Participants section below.
